The viscosity of our etch gel allows the solution to stay in place while etching, preventing the gel from flowing onto soft tissue and adjacent teeth. As well as this, our Blue Etch gel is self-limiting and stops etching at the ideal depth, eliminating the potential for incomplete resin impregnation and over-etching.

Etching is a vital aspect of restorative dentistry and works by making the tooth rougher - creating ‘tags and tunnels' - so that the bonding agents can attach restorative work with greater ease and strength. Etch gel does this by eroding minerals in the enamel and dentine, so it is important that etching gel is easily visible, so that dentists can be sure all of it has been removed. In light of this, our etch gel is a bright blue colour, so that it clearly stands out from the surface being etched.

All of these features enable the gel to be placed more accurately and to stay in place longer, which leads to a more controlled application, and an increased bond strength.
