Dental practices like yours are wasting money every day, as some mixing tips can lead to waste in the practice.
If you are taking traditional impressions then chances are you are wasting money and product. Not only do you have to ensure you are using the right impression-taking material you also have to be using the right tools for the job. In particular mixing tips. Most dentists will think a mixing tip is a mixing tip right? Wrong!
Helical mixing tips waste up to 3ml per cartridge causing dental practices to have unnecessary higher costs when it comes managing their stock levels. Although Helical mixing tips tend to be longer allowing more space for the product to be efficiently mixed, it does also mean that precise applications becomes difficult for the dentist and therefore more product needs to be removed during treatment.
You may think that 3ml per cartridge is insignificant. But think, how many times a day, week and year you waste that material and how much would it all amount to in actual material and value?
Henry Schein presents T-Mixer™. The innovative, compact design, based on the latest mixing technology, allows a reduction in waste volume of up to 40% as compared with established Helical mixing tips. Despite its shorter geometry, the consistent handling of the T-Mixer™ achieves an even more homogeneous mixing result and therefore safer application. The T-mixer™ is shorter and more compressed as a spiral for mixing the base and the catalyst of the material. It will initially be a slightly longer extrusion to mix in the first place, however the mixing tip used remains in situ as a cap on the cartridge each time. The result of that is there is approx 30% less left in the tip than a conventional tip. Hence the saving of material.
T-Mixer™ tips in yellow, pink and green sizes were evaluated by 30 consultants in 985 uses. This automix tip received a 96% clinical rating.
Testing by THE DENTAL ADVISOR confirmed that 25%-40% less waste occurred by using T-Mixer™ compared to longer, standard mixing tips. It should be noted that the T-Mixer™ tips did not adversely affect the critical mechanical properties of elastic recovery and strain-in-compression for impression materials or flexural strength and modulus for the restorative materials tested. 67% of consultants rated T-Mixer™ better than other mixing tips they were using and 20% rated it equivalent. 83% would switch to T-Mixer™ and 87% would recommend it to a colleague.
